Nehemiah 13:1-31

Watching someone you love drift from God is one of the most painful experiences a believer can face. The book of Nehemiah closes with a heavy but hopeful ending, showing us that drifting from God is part of our human nature, and that faithful people keep calling others back anyway. Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem after years away, only to find that every promise the people had made to God had been broken. Rather than giving up, he got to work again, restoring what had fallen apart and calling the people back to their covenant with God. Faithful ministry does not always produce immediate results, but our job is obedience, and God's job is transformation. What sustained Nehemiah through every setback was prayer and a clear sense of calling, and those same things can sustain us. Your calling as a parent, grandparent, friend, or follower of Christ does not expire when things get hard. Keep praying, keep pointing others to Jesus, and keep trusting a faithful God with the results.
