Cornerstone on the Go

The King Worth Pressing Through For

Thomas Cruthis

Two remarkable individuals in Matthew 9 demonstrate what it means to push through obstacles to reach Jesus. Jairus, a synagogue leader, risked his reputation to publicly ask Jesus to raise his dead daughter. A woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years pushed through crowds and shame to touch Jesus's robe for healing. Both received what they desperately needed because they refused to let barriers stop them. Their stories challenge us to examine what might be keeping us from experiencing Jesus's presence and power in our lives, whether it's fear of others' opinions, shame about our condition, or simply the busyness of daily life.
