The King Who Satisfies

Thomas Cruthis

Many Christians struggle with spiritual practices that feel empty and routine, wondering why prayer, Bible reading, or church attendance doesn't bring expected joy and fulfillment. The problem isn't with the practices themselves, but when they become ends in themselves rather than means to knowing God. In Matthew 9:14-17, Jesus explains why His disciples didn't fast like others - because the Bridegroom was present with them. Jesus can't simply be added to existing religious practices; He must be the center of everything. Spiritual disciplines are beautiful servants but empty saviors, meant to flow from relationship rather than fear. True satisfaction comes only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, not through religious activities alone.
